Project description:
The purpose of this research was to undertake an ‘intelligent mapping’ exercise of voluntary and community sector organisations delivering elderly care services in Birmingham. The mapping exercise identified over 500 voluntary and community organisations in Birmingham that provide a wide range of services to the elderly. A significant proportion of those organisations were involved in the mapping exercise, which utilised a range of research methodologies, including self-completion questionnaires, telephone and face to face interviews. The Health Authority, who commissioned the research, were particularly interested in the potential contribution of the voluntary sector in maintaining elderly people in their own homes for as long as possible.
